DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Songs for a New World was one of the first productions produced in New York City coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. This production aimed to serve as a homecoming for live musical theatre, celebrating NYC’s rich, diverse arts and reflecting on the life-changing events of the year 2020. Produced at Radial Park in Astoria, Queens, the outdoor venue allowed for socially distanced pod audience viewing where audiences could safely gather. The show featured a large star-studded cast guest starring for each individual song, breaking from the musical’s traditional structure of being shared by four actors. A core group of actor-musicians opened the story as street performers, positing their optimism for a new, better world, and underscoring each individual character’s narrative about their life challenges in NYC during lockdown.

Casting is now complete for New City Music Theatre's production of Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World August 26 at 7:30 PM at Radial Park at Halletts Point. The evening will mark the company's first production under its new name; it was formerly Cleveland Musical Theatre.

The staging will feature the previously reported former Anastasia co-stars Christy Altomare and Derek Klena, West Side Story's Shereen Pimentel, Frozen's Ciara Renée, Head Over Heels' Bonnie Milligan, and Kinky Boots' Kyle Taylor Parker.

NCMT to present a star-studded outdoor staged concert of ‘Songs for a New World’ at Radial Park
The socially distanced outdoor production, beginning at 7:30 pm, will be performed in the Radial Park entertainment multiplex at Halletts Point, Queens, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
