About Me.

I am Miles Sternfeld, a New York City-based interpretive director with a fervent dedication to reimagining seminal works from both the musical theatre and classical theatre canons. My artistic endeavors gravitate towards narratives that are inherently cathartic, delving into the core of human experiences, particularly those surrounding trauma, abuse, and empowerment. My directorial approach is characterized by an unwavering commitment to quality, excellence, and innovation. I hold in high regard the values of ambition, respect, and a profound dedication to the artistic process.

I am the Founding Artistic Director of New City Music Theatre, a professional theatre company dedicated to the re-conceptualization of widely celebrated musicals. My production of Jane Eyre garnered recognition with a Superior Direction Achievement Award from the Cleveland Critics’ Circle, a collaborative effort with Olivier Award Winner John Caird and Tony nominee Paul Gordon. Noteworthy directorial credits include leading performances by actors such as Alice Ripley, Tony Yazbeck, Liz Callaway, Bonnie Milligan, Nick Blaemire, and Adrienne Warren in productions like Into The Woods, Songs for a New World, Aida, Pete(HER)Pan, and The Who’s Tommy

Currently, I am interning with Jamie Lloyd on the Broadway revival of Sunset Blvd and pursuing my MFA in Directing at Columbia University School of the Arts under the esteemed mentorship of theatre luminaries including Anne Bogart, Brian Kulick, and Katie Mitchell. Throughout my time at Columbia, I have directed re-conceptualized productions of Next to Normal by Tom Kitt & Brian Yorkey and The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, alongside new works Rot by Aditya Lal Chada, Timmy by Megan Rivkin, and Broken Arpeggio by Diane Davis. Next up, I will be directing productions of Sweeney Todd and Romeo & Juliet at Columbia University.

In addition to my directorial accomplishments, I have had the honor to contribute as a production assistant to esteemed productions, including the pre-Broadway presentation of Finding Neverland at the American Repertory Theatre, Fiddler On The Roof (in Yiddish) at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, and The Great Society at Lincoln Center Theatre.

As the founder and CEO of "Werk With Bway," I led an established musical theatre audition prep program in New York City, providing emerging artists with the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals. Demonstrating my commitment to education, I have created global educational initiatives, offering training in audition and college audition preparation under the guidance of renowned musical theatre artists and prestigious college conservatory programs.

I am a proud member of SDC,  as well as an alumnus of Point Park University's Musical Theatre Conservatory and Fordham University at Lincoln Center. I hold a BS in Business Administration and am in my third and final year of studies a Columbia University, pursuing my MFA in Directing under the mentorship of Anne Bogart and Brian Kulick.
